The Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) credential is held by over 150,000 professionals around the world and it represents the gold standard for the global financial services industry. These charter-holders have strong understanding of advanced investment analysis and real-world portfolio management skills after undergoing a rigorous exam program by the CFA Institute. Bringing this global charter to Jordan, CFA Society Jordan was established in 2002 as a non-profit organization and as one of CFA Institute’s member societies.
The Society connects local members to a global network of over 150,000 investment professionals with a mission to contribute to the development of the investment profession in Jordan through interactions with decision and policy makers, and through creating awareness of the CFA program among students, employers and employees.
CFA Society Jordan is also committed to setting the benchmark for ethical and professional standards within the investment industry in Jordan, encouraging professional development through the CFA Program and continuing education, and facilitating the exchange of information. During the last year, the Society continued its implementation of a range of activities and events meant to increase its impact in Jordan and further raise the finance industry’s standards and local professionals’ capacities:
CFA RESEARCH CHALLENGE
The CFA Society Jordan organized its 6th annual CFA Institute Research Challenge under the patronage of the Amman Stock Exchange during which six leading Jordanian universities participated in the challenge to develop and present an equity research report on a publicly listed company on the Amman Stock Exchange. The winners of the challenge went on to compete with peers from top business schools around the globe. The CFA Research Challenge is an intensive learning experience for university students, giving them real-world experience in financial analysis, honing their presentation skills, and learning how to work in a team to achieve the best results.
KNOWLEDGE SEMINARS
Considered the CFA Society Jordan’s flagship events, several times a year the Society organizes Knowledge Seminars on major topics and trends impacting the finance industry ranging from Islamic finance, macroeconomics, blockchain and cryptocurrencies, derivatives and fintech, and also on soft skills such as improving memory and mindfulness.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Through the CFA Society Jordan’s various platforms and channels, the Society regularly posts job opportunities within finance, banking and investment banking in Jordan. The CFA Society Jordan works closely with the top employers to create a channel that connects charterholders and candidates with job opportunities. CFA charterholders have gone on to take some of the highest positions in Jordan’s finance and banking industries.
MOCK EXAMS & SCHOLARSHIPS
The CFA Society Jordan facilitates annual mock exams for registered candidates to have the chance to practice ahead of the actual exam. This initiative has received positive-feedback from participants and as a consequence, the exam pass rates in Jordan have seen a remarkable improvement. In addition, every year the CFA Society Jordan offers scholarships to exam candidates in the form of Access Scholarships and Awareness Scholarships.
