Hikma Pharmaceuticals, which was founded in Jordan in 1978 and listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2005, has just unveiled a new app which is designed to help users better monitor their health.

The Hikma Health app, which is available for both Android and iOS devices, features everything from medication usage and storage instructions, to a symptom checker which helps users identify possible causes of illness and displays emergency numbers. Users can also create their own health records which they can use to schedule appointments with doctors and program medication reminders.

The app was developed by Altibbi.com, itself a medical content provider. Though it is targeted at the global general public, Hikma believes the bilingual capabilities of the app are what make it specific to the MENA region. The app is designed to test the waters of medical health apps in the region. If it proves successful, Hikma said it hopes to release more apps specific to each of its departments in the future.
