Tahboub Automotive, the distributor of Honda Cars in Jordan, has unveiled the All New Honda Pilot during an event at Tahboub showrooms which was attended by several guests and media representatives in early November.
The third generation Honda Pilot brings a new standard of comfort and quality to SUV drivers comfortably seating up to eight passengers. Honda’s acclaimed SUV has helped set industry standards in regards to fuel efficiency and its spacious and luxurious interior, in addition to improving off road performance with Intelligent Traction Management.
Exterior Design
The Pilot has been completely restyled with a bold, new front grille and flowing, elegant lines of a sport coupe. Its premium features include Halogen Projector Beam headlights in EX and EXL grades and LED projector headlights in Touring grade. The Honda Pilot’s first-ever panoramic glass roof on the Touring grade captures the bright blue skies of our future. The 2016 Pilot’s wide, low stance offers improved aerodynamic performance with 18-inch or 20-inch Alloy wheels adding to its classy look. Other features available in all grades include Front Fog Lights, LED Tail Lights and LED daytime running lights along with a Tailgate Spoiler, Power Door Mirrors and LED Turn Light Indicators.
Interior Design
The Pilot’s interior design adds luxury and convenience with its refined new cockpit, sumptuous beige and black leather seats coordinated with exterior colors, and upscale cabin amenities. An 8-inch touchscreen audio display gives drivers instant access to audio system controls and other advanced display features. There’s also cruise control for those long, tiresome journeys, and for the first time ever, the Touring grade includes second-row captain’s chairs, which provide easy access to the Pilot’s second and third row seats.
Other amenities include tri-zone automatic climate control, a rear air conditioning duct in second and third-row seats, rear door sunshades which protect passengers from harmful sun rays, a sun glass holder and conversation mirror, a hidden storage compartment for extra luggage, Active Noise Control (ANC) for a quieter cabin, and a rear entertainment system with a 9 inch display screen available in the Touring grade.
Power Train
The all-new Honda Pilot boasts a 3.5-liter Direct Injected V6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management (VCM). With the press of a button, the engine offers drivers a maximum output of 280 horsepower at 6000 rpm and maximum torque of 355Nm at 4700 rpm. The Pilot further offers outstanding fuel efficiency with quick, responsive acceleration and ultra-smooth power delivery. The 2WD Pilots to be introduced in the GCC at 11.4km/L while Pilot AWD drives at 10.8 km/L.
Among the pilot’s newest features is its Intelligent Traction Management, which is now featured in all models except the EX 2WD; it has a pushbutton mode selection and TFT mode display on the cockpit instrument panel. In addition, the EX (AWD) and EXL grades offer a full 200mm of ground clearance, which enables the vehicle to adapt to any terrain. The most noteworthy feature is the Sand Mode which allows the Pilot to be driven smoothly on sand.
Body and Safety
The New Pilot is equipped with a comprehensive set of advanced safety and driver assistive technologies. The EXL and Touring grades of the New Pilot feature ‘Remote Engine Start’ that lets you start the engine from a distance, thus enabling an automatic climate control system to regulate cabin temperature before you even get in. Electric Power Steering, One Push Start System, Cruise Control, and a Multi- Angle Rear View Camera are some of the technologies that the Honda Pilot is equipped with to make driving a more pleasurable experience.
In addition, the Honda Pilot utilizes Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure technology for improved occupant protection and crash compatibility. It also boasts Honda active-safety features such as Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Traction Control Systems (TCS), Anti-Lock Brake Systems (ABS), Electronic Brake Distributor (EBD), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Agile Handle Assist (AHA) and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The inclusion of these safety technologies has helped the revolutionary Honda Pilot receive a 2015 TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in United States of America, thus making it one of the safest cars in its class.
Grade and Color Availability
The Honda Pilot was introduced in four grades in the MENA region with the introduction of the new base grade EX in 2WD and the others namely EX, EX-L and Touring, which are all available in AWD. The All New Honda Pilot will be offered in a range of exterior colors. All color options have a beige interior with the option of black interior in White Diamond Pearl and Lunar Silver Metallic.
